ELAINE FLETCHER The act of putting paint to canvas, panel or paper and discovering the way I “see” the image is the thing that pulls me into making a painting. I love the experience of the unnoticed passage of time as I work and the work develops. At the heart of each piece is a sense of place and time; personal, yet inviting the viewer to share the moment. Retired Art Teacher. Taught in Yarmouth, Maine from 1992-2016 Web site: http://cargocollective.com/elainefletcher Graduate of the University of Maine at Orono. Degree: Bachelor of Science in Art Education, with Highest Distinction. Senior Studio in oil painting. Three academic honor societies. Additional coursework at the University of Southern Maine and Maine College of Art I paint professionally; accept commissions. Media: Oils, watercolor, and ink. My work has been selected several times as cover art for former US Senator Olympia Snowe’s official holiday card, which has been distributed to thousands of the senator’s supporters and colleagues, including the President of the United States. My ink drawings are popular as holiday cards; purchased by businesses and individuals. My watercolor house portraits hang in dozens of homes in New England. My oil paintings have been exhibited in Maine Art Education Association and other Art Faculty shows, a Plein Aire show through Yarmouth Arts, and at Dogfish Cafe in Portland.
