For me, when the skies are bright, my mood seems to immediately improve. In painting it’s all about the light, too. Change the light and you change the colors and the shadows and the entire mood of what you are viewing. As a painter, capturing this light on the canvas is one of the things that keeps me excited to paint. It’s what keeps me coming back day after day and helps me to see in new ways and thus, pushes me to new limits. In the long cold days of the Maine winter, I like to paint fresh flowers and other still life compositions and use different light source to create interest and dramatize the objects. I also use photographs taken in the warmer months for inspiration. Plein air painting is the most impressive way to study light and I do that as much as I can. Workshops and classes in drawing and painting help me to sharpen and improve my artistic skills. I hope you enjoy viewing my work. If you have any questions or would like to purchase a painting, please email me. Thanks you.
