Bio Julia was born and educated in Maine. Though drawn towards the arts as a child, she didn’t start painting seriously until her thirties, taking sessions through local Adult Education classes. She continued her art studies at Westbrook College, the University of Southern Maine, and Maine College of Art. A painting workshop on location on Monhegan Island inspired her to study landscape painting with well-known artists like Don Stone and Charles Movalli. In 2000 she left the paper industry to paint full-time. She paints in mid-coastal Maine, and has visited Ireland and England as well. Julia draws her inspiration from the beauty of quiet places; most of her paintings are done on location. The woods and marshes of Yarmouth, Freeport, and Acadia National Park are favorite areas. She is represented by the Fore Street Gallery in Portland, and Sebascodegan Gallery in Harpswell.
