The feel of the fabric, the play of colors, designing a picture from a variety of fabrics and textures, finding a unique use for yarns, ribbons and other embellishments, or creating new fabric with paints and dyes………these are all things that excite and intrigue me about working with textiles and fiber. Kathy Angel Lee is a textile/mixed media artist working with fabrics, thread, paint, beads, and other embellishments. Her work is eclectic depicting flowers, landscapes, fish, animals, and abstracts. Kathy enjoys experimenting with a wide range of fabrics and techniques in both traditional and non-traditional ways. Her special interests are landscapes, flowers and floral arrangements, fabric manipulation, and creating her own painted and dyed fabric. Artful Memories is her latest venture. Using clothing from a family member, she creates memorable art pieces that serve to remind the owner of their loved one. You can see samples of this work at her blog at http://www.kathyangellee.com/ Kathy is an active member of Maine Women in the Arts, Saco Bay Artists, Art Guild of Kennebunk, Studio Art Quilt Associates, Maine Crafts Association, and Maine Fiber Arts. Kathy’s work has been shown nationally and is in private collections in Maine, Florida, California, Canada, and Panama. Her piece, Saco Mills, is part of the permanent collection of the Saco Museum, Saco, Maine. She is published in Quilt of America: Stories of Americans and Quilts, Creative Quilting edited by Karey Bresenhan, My World in Black and White, and 500 Art Quilts.
