After retiring from teaching 8 years ago,I have fallen in love with making art. I find the time I spend painting feels like meditating, and I lose all sense of time. Mainly, I paint in acrylics and enjoy the challenge of creating land and waterscapes of our beautiful natural environment, still life, interiors, and sometimes I like to incorporate figures into my work. The play of light and color are my real subjects. While I try to make art that is pleasing to look at, I love to invoke a mood or a sense of place that the viewer can connect with through their own experiences. I have had an individual show, a mother-daughter show, and several group shows in Portland and Freeport. This is my first time submitting work for the Yarmouth Art Festival.
