Description: This painting is the very famous view of Great Head at Acadia National Park in Maine. It is the largest headland in the park and one of the most unique headland views on the Maine coast that actually tilts forward in defiance of the Atlantic Ocean. Made famous by Thomas Cole, Michael chooses to depict the hulking headland and coastal scene on a calm day in September. This watercolor was painted on handmade Twinrocker heavy weight watercolor paper and was also painted on location in plein air. Michael is a signature member of the New England watercolor Society and has recently won the Marilyn Sabin award in a regional signature member exhibit at the Newport Art Museum in Rhode Island. His watercolors have been included in numerous group and one person shows and are in private and corporate collections throughout the country.
