Description: This painting was painted in plein air on Mohegan Island in July of the famous Pulpit Rock at the northeast part of the island. The angles of this rock reminds me of a Cezanne composition with it's complex shapes that contribute to the beauty of planes in space. Shaped like a pulpit, this huge offshore rock has amazing greenish gray color tones against the blue Atlantic Ocean. It is captured in the afternoon when the saturation is at it's peak excitement visually and the accents of orange liken, quarts and surf just glow.
