Arlyss Becker
Falmouth, Maine

My current artwork reflects the many years I've worked at the processes and aesthetics of art as I have seen and lived through numerous changes in my life and in the art world. I taught art in public schools in the mid-west and New England, before retiring and starting a new focus on "my own" art. I retired after nearly 30 years and I've focused on learning new techniques I had missed along the way. I worked especially with printmaking and papermaking. Always working with painting, my ideas came from history, art movements, crafts, contemporary happenings, literature, and other sources. I'm aiming at a conversation or a connection with viewers which keeps me moving to new directions. My last address was Downeast Maine where I felt in the center of inspiration from the envlronment. My current place is in Falmouth where I continue to find challenges and rewards. Recently, I was thrilled to show my "Cooling Trends" art work at the Falmouth Memorial Library.
