Colleen White
Portland, Maine

I spend a lot of time painting pictures with water featured prominently. The ocean, lakes, rivers, creeks and streams. My style is usually traditional landscapes, but sometimes I want to push the emotion center stage and slip into a more abstract representation. What keeps it interesting for me as a painter is how the light affects the mood, changes the color, and energizes the view. Choosing what I want to paint and how I want to paint it, always includes a hope that when the work is finished, someone else will see it and think: I know exactly how that feels.
