Francesca DeSanctis
Old Town, Maine

I take great solace in the beauty and solitude of all that nature has to offer. I can only hope that my work conveys the sentiment I have for the natural world. My studies of art history have exposed me to the Masters, the unknown, and the underappreciated. My style is most heavily influenced by Fauvism, and their reckless embrace of color in all forms. I believe this style is the best way to capture the raw power of the natural world. Like Cézanne and Mont Sainte-Victoire, I return to the beauty of Maine over and over, pushing and pulling the color to express my mood, the light, and my reverence for the subject.
