Casco, Maine

I work in a variety of mediums – oil, acrylic, watercolor and gouache. For portraits and commissioned work, I use watercolor in a detailed and precise approach. But for Maine landscapes and seascapes, I’m happiest working in oils using a split primary palette on canvas or cradled birch. Recently I’ve begun to push my color choices in expressive directions. My current series of “soaring” landscapes - painted from the perspective of flying over a landscape - employ vibrant colors. It’s a step away from realism, lending a magical or playful aspect to a local scene. I earned a BA in Fine Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University, and I’m a member of the Bridgton Art Guild. I show my work year-round at Gallery 302, in Bridgton. When I’m not painting the Maine landscape, I stay busy with commissioned watercolor work of beloved animals and boats.
