Rebecca Cote, Biddeford, Maine, is a visual artist, and creative community collaborator. In her studio work, she reveals a deep connection to wild places, intrinsic in both her representational and abstract paintings. The work reflects her long and intimate observations with the natural world as a wilderness guide. She communicates nature’s power, grace and interactions with both dynamic gestures and subtleties of line and color, inviting the viewer to recognize and feel nature’s energetic moments. Driven by a passion to connect people with their creative potential, Rebecca also designs and facilitates community art projects through her new public art initiative, Forging Commons, which ignites the participants' capacity for active agency; building positive identity, pride and ambition to encourage cultural contribution helping to rejuvenate community collaboration. She has a BA from Humboldt State University, CA and an MEd in Community Art Education from Lesley University, MA, is a certified Maine Guide and Wilderness First Responder.
