ABOUT ROSS ALAN BACHELDER Since 1997, artist, writer and musician Ross Bachelder has exhibited his playful and unorthodox drawings, paintings, found object assemblages and photographs in galleries in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. After 18 years as manager of the frame shop and Franklin Gallery at Ben Franklin Crafts in Rochester, New Hampshire, he is working exclusively now from his home-based studio in Berwick, Maine. In 2011 he founded and coordinated the KAA Seacoast Moderns, an interest group of the Kittery Art Association, and in 2010 he was the coordinator of AAGNE (the Abstract Artists’ Group of New England), an interest group of the Newburyport Art Association. He is the founder and director of Artful Endeavors, a consulting service for creative people of every kind. He’s also been active for many years as a musician, performing solo recitals and appearing at art exhibit openings and other special events as The Flute Guy. For two years he wrote a fine and performing Arts column and reviewed plays, art exhibits and recitals for the Portsmouth Herald’s SPOTLIGHT magazine. He was also involved in theatre for many years as pit orchestra musician, bit part actor, set designer, theatre publicist and founder/director of his own teen theatre company, The Young Actors Guild. Bachelder travels frequently to perform as a musician, paint and photograph what he sees, then write and speak publicly about his deep, long-time immersion in the Arts. He’s performed seven times at the Museum of Fine Arts Tea Series in Boston, and in 2011 he appeared as special guest musician at an art opening in Tauranga, New Zealand. He's toured art galleries and museums in England, Scotland, France, the Netherlands, and Iceland. Bachelder's first book, Happy Dawg Walks The Sad Man: The Remarkably Varied Adventures of A True Arts Multiple, was published in 2016. His second book, REVENGE: Tales Best Read in the Twilight Hours, was published in 2020. He's currently hard at work on his third book, Cecelia by Moonlight: The Problem with Intelligence.
