South Portland, Maine

Sandy Conlogue is a colorist painter who lives in South Portland, Maine. Her colorful acrylic paintings express uplifting , bold, and unique compositions of landscapes, seascapes, interiors, streetscapes, and still life. She loves to begin with a strong deep red underpainting which will partly show through the finished painting and sketching the composition directly onto this unique red underpainting with a burnt sienna paint and then add vivid colors of oranges, reds, greens, yellows and blues. Her inspiration comes, as Sandy says, from "places of the spirit". Some favorite subjects include her backyard and garden, local beaches, Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor, NYC, the American Southwest, Italy, and France. From an early age Sandy was very active in art. She earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree from University of Southern Maine and received a first place award in her senior year art show. Sandy served as Art Coordinator for a local pre-school for twenty eight years. Sandy's artwork has been shown in Greater Portland, Maine local exhibitions for many years, including Art in the Park-South Portland, Portland Annual Sidewalk Art Show, Fort Williams Labor Day Art Show and Yarmouth Art Festival.
