Stephen Walsh

Stephen P. Walsh is an artist living and working out of the city of Portland, Maine. He received is his BFA from the University of Southern Maine with a concentration in painting and drawing. Stephen’s abstract work is inspired by the likes of architecture, pattern, shape and form, evoking a three dimensional quality to his paintings. Much of the work incorporates the use of numerous lines, randomly marked on top of one another, creating an active foundation, or armature as he likes to call it. The work is then build upon the layers of energetic marks. There is an inherent sculptural quality to his paintings. Stephen’s other works are deeply introspective, exploring his experiences and memories through richly layered textures and colors.
