Description: This painting was painted very quickly as the sun was setting on caterpillar Hill in Sedgwick, Maine. This painting was also a part of Michael's Blue Hill area portfolio when he painted for the " 2018 Paint The Peninsula Silent Auction" in Blue Hill; to raise money for the Blue Hill Library. The paint is of highest quality Williamsburg and Old Holland handmade oil paint. Michael paints in an impasto style that the Venetians and Italian master's employed by using a Black Oil wax medium that he makes himself. This medium is very archival not only keeping the painting from cracking over time but also increasing the color richness. Michael used only assorted palette knives to paint this painting and produced a wonderfully rich and flowing treatment of interesting and descriptive marks. It is framed in a gold plein air frame that complements the glow of this unusual view of the sunset at Caterpillar Hill.
